An opportunity has arisen for a Production Engineer to join our Kidlington based Prototype department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.
About The Role
The main goal of this role is to keep our manufacturing processes up to date with the latest technologies and techniques to improve efficiency and product quality. Including investing in new equipment and exploring opportunities to enhance our production assets, ensuring we remain competitive and responsive to market demands. The role involves implementing rapid tooling methods to accelerate production and reduce downtime.
What You Will Do
- Oversee and improve manufacturing processes in assigned production areas.
- Responsible for tooling and equipment maintenance schedules to minimise downtime (Daily/Weekly TPM).
- Analyse workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout to optimise manufacturing processes.
- Be involved with the implementation of production schedules to ensure that volume, cost, and quality targets are achieved.
- Conduct detailed capacity planning and provide solutions to increase production capacity and flexibility.
- Develop process documentation and standard operating procedures for production activities.
- Perform root cause analysis for production defects and develop corrective action plans.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and assist in resolving operational issues.
- Maintaining and updating BOP, MBOM and ECR based on production requirements.
- Develop and update day to day processes documentation in line with our QMS system to ensure consistent operations across production shifts.
- Implement and monitor quality control measures to reduce the incidence of defects and rework.
- Analyse production data to identify trends and areas for improvement in production efficiency and product quality.
- Assist in the design and setup of new production lines and equipment.
- Train production staff on new processes and technologies.
- Facilitate cross-departmental efforts to address and resolve production challenges.
About You
- Electrical and/or Mechanical technical knowledge & ability.
- Apprenticeship Level 4/HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- IOSH Qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
- Excellent verbal & communication skills.
- Ability to use initiative and respond quickly to problems and challenges.
- Organised, precise and pragmatic approach to working.
- Good working knowledge of proprietary PC software e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with QMS systems.
- Flexibility around working hours, there may be a requirement to work shifts therefore a ‘can do’ attitude is essential.
- Experience of working with High Voltage products.
