Job summary

Staffline in Buckingham is seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join its engineering team. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes to boost quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness.

You will work with cross-functional teams to optimise operations, support new product introductions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives from concept through to full production.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in manufacturing/production engineering.
• Proven track record delivering process improvements.
• Experience supporting product introductions and cost reductions.
• Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, and process validation.
• Six Sigma experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve manufacturing processes to achieve quality, cost and delivery targets.
• Lead continuous improvement activities across manufacturing operations.
• Support DFMs, BOMs, routing, and ERP integration.
• Assist with risk assessments and process capability studies.
• Lead or support prototype, trial, and pre-production builds.

Job Title: Production Engineer

A leading manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join its engineering team. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes, ensuring operational efficiency, product quality, and cost-effective production.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimising manufacturing operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and supporting new product introductions from concept through to full production.

Key Responsibilities - Production Engineer

Process Development & Continuous Improvement:

• Develop and improve manufacturing processes to achieve high levels of quality, cost efficiency, and delivery performance (QCD).
• Review and optimise manufacturing methods, tooling, and materials to support cost reduction initiatives.
• Lead continuous improvement activities across manufacturing operations.
• Support quality investigations and implement robust root cause corrective actions.
• Lead and facilitate continuous improvement teams focused on operational performance.

Manufacturing Engineering & Documentation:

• Create, maintain, and manage key process documentation, including PFMEAs, Control Plans, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
• Develop and support manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
• Support the integration of BOMs, routing structures, and ERP system requirements.
• Assist with manufacturing cost assessments and process validation activities.
• Conduct component and process reviews to support tooling, equipment, and production readiness.

Production & Project Support:

• Support engineering and manufacturing teams in delivering projects and operational objectives.
• Drive Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Support risk assessments and process capability studies.
• Assist with project development activities and engineering reviews.
• Lead or support prototype, trial, and pre-production builds where required.
• Provide ongoing manufacturing support to ensure a smooth transition into full production.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:

• Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety policies.
• Adhere to Environmental and 5S standards across all manufacturing activities.
• Promote safe working practices and continuous workplace organisation improvements.

Qualifications & Requirements - Production Engineer

• Minimum of 5 years' experience within a manufacturing or production engineering environment.
• Proven track record of delivering manufacturing process improvements.
• Experience supporting product introductions, process development, and production improvements.
• Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, process validation, and manufacturing best practices.
• Six Sigma experience preferred, with Green Belt or Black Belt qualification advantageous but not essential.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands‑on approach.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams through improvement initiatives.
• Experience working within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
