Job summary

Progress Rail in Sheffield, UK, is seeking a Production Design Engineer to create detailed casting drawings, work sketches and BOMs for Cast Manganese Products. You'll collaborate with Pattern Making, Methoding and Machining teams to ensure production-ready designs and compliance with standards.

The role focuses on production engineering, manufacturing drawings and process improvements in a busy environment, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement and tooling development.

Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent in mechanical/production engineering.
• Strong understanding of technical drawings and standards.
• Experience with manufacturing environments and BOMs.
• Familiar with AutoCAD or NX is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Process jobs to maximise throughput and efficiency.
• Improve existing products, processes and design tools.
• Produce designs for pattern production with cross-functional teams.
• Ensure safety and project risks are communicated to senior engineers.
• Provide high quality drawings and documentation to standards.
• Support manufacturing operations on NCRs or process changes.
• Apply understanding of processes to ensure production-aligned drawings.
