Prime Appointments Ltd recruiting a Production Control Manager for a growing manufacturing business, to lead production planning and capacity alignment to meet delivery targets.

Reporting to Operations Manager, you will oversee MPS, scheduling, ERP/MRP management and collaboration with Sales, Procurement and Design to optimise resources.

If you have 10+ years in engineering and strong Excel/ERP skills, this leadership role offers impact and clear career progression.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience within an engineering environment.
  • Experience in Production Planning, Control or Manufacturing Planning.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication across departments and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
  • Maintain and optimize schedules with shop floor feedback and changes.
  • Manage ERP/MRP systems to ensure materials are available as required.
  • Monitor material availability and timely arrival of raw materials.
  • Analyse production capacity across laser cutting, CNC machining, welding, paint and assembly.
  • Collaborate with Design to improve BOMs and scheduling accuracy.
  • Analyse product costings and work with Finance and Sales to improve costing accuracy.
  • Drive continuous improvement across planning and manufacturing processes.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Production Control Manager to join a growing manufacturing business where you can influence production performance and drive operational efficiency.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will take ownership of production planning, scheduling, material readiness and capacity planning, ensuring manufacturing operations run efficiently and customer delivery targets are consistently achieved

This is a key leadership role, working closely with Sales, Procurement, Design & shop floor teams to ensure resources, materials and manufacturing capacity are aligned with business demand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS), balancing customer demand with manufacturing capacity
  • Maintain and optimize schedules in line with shop floor feedback, process improvements and changing customer requirements
  • Manage ERP/MRP systems to ensure materials are available in line with requirements
  • Monitor material availability, ensuring raw materials and purchased components arrive on time
  • Analyse production capacity across laser cutting, CNC machining, welding, paint and assembly operations
  • Collaborate with the Design team to improve Bills of Materials, manufacturing data and scheduling accuracy
  • Analyse product costings, identify discrepancies and work with Finance and Sales to improve costing accuracy
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across planning, scheduling and manufacturing processes
About You
  • Previous experience within Production Planning, Control or Manufacturing Planning role
  • 10+ years' experience within a engineering environment
  • Previous leadership or management experience would be highly advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple projects
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across various departments of the business
  • Calm, analytical and solutions-focused under pressure
  • Experience within sheet metal, fabrication, CNC machining or heavy engineering
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Understanding of automated processes such as robotic welding or CNC production
