Job summary

Macquarie in London seeks a Product and Valuation Control professional to join the Finance team within Commodities and Global Markets. You will help ensure accurate revenue recognition, robust valuation control, and insightful reporting across a broad range of commodity products.

You will work closely with front office, risk and operations to support month-end close, reconciliations and continuous process improvements, while communicating performance to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years’ experience in product control, market risk, valuation control or a similar role within a trading or investment banking environment.
  • Experience supporting commodities trading, ideally across oil, gas, power, carbon or physical products.
  • Understanding of physical logistics such as storage, shipping and pipeline activity, alongside financial instruments including swaps, futures and options.
  • Strong analytical capability, high attention to detail and a practical control mindset.
  • Familiarity with coding languages such as Python, SQL or VBA would be advantageous.
  • Confidence communicating with senior stakeholders and constructively challenging front office where required.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, substantiate and control revenue recognition for the trading business.
  • Oversee daily P&L production and analysis.
  • Validate valuations for physical and derivative positions.
  • Provide clear explanation of financial performance to trading desks and senior stakeholders.
  • Work closely with front office, risk, operations and finance teams to ensure robust valuation control and reporting; support month-end close and reconciliations; drive process improvements.
