Job summary

Deutsche Bank in London is seeking a Vice President to lead Market & Valuation Risk Management for Commodities Energy valuation control. You will oversee IPV, reserves, and prudent valuation, shaping modelling and governance with internal/external stakeholders, and helping set up the new energy business within the MVRM VC team.

The role requires strong valuation knowledge, accounting/proper valuation qualifications, and excellent analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of valuation aspects of Commodities Energy products.
  • Understanding of accounting and prudent valuation requirements.
  • Accounting or Risk Management qualification: ACA, ACCA, CFA, FRM and/or MSc in Finance or an Economics-related degree or equivalent experience.
  • Commodities product knowledge.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to team members, peers and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily and monthly Independent Price Verification, Prudential Value, Fair Value Reserves and Levelling results.
  • Recommend approvals for new trades, day-1 revenue recognition decisions and run quarterly Fair Value Levelling and Prudent Valuation processes and reporting.
  • Enhance and develop optimal fair value and prudential valuation methodologies consistent with regulatory technical standards.
  • Define modelling requirements for illiquid products, understand model pricing limitations, assess key valuation risks and uncertainties and manage them appropriately.
  • Develop productive relationships with business and external stakeholders (Audit, Regulators, Data providers) and internal stakeholders (MRM) to ensure valuation risk processes are appropriate and optimally designed.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the bank, including front-office wider MVRM teams, senior traders and support the Valuation function in setting up the Energy business and overseeing implementation of all aspects of valuation control, including reviewing and approving IPV, reserves, IFRS Levelling, PruVal, etc., and engaging with stakeholders across Front Office, Risk and Finance.
