Job summary

Wise Technical Ltd is seeking an experienced Cloud/DevOps engineer to own the technical architecture of the Azure-based platform. You will design scalable, secure systems, lead architectural decisions for new products, and improve CI/CD, IaC, and observability while ensuring security governance.

You will mentor engineers, shape technical roadmaps, and support client-facing technical discussions as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering with Python and/or PHP.
• SQL incl PostgreSQL and data-driven systems.
• Linux production environments experience.
• Cloud infrastructure with Azure.
• Experience designing scalable, secure production systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the cloud platform architecture and design scalable, secure systems.
• Lead architectural decisions for new products and modules.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, IaC, monitoring and observability.
• Maintain security controls and standards alignment (ISO27001, Cyber Essentials).

Job description

Own day-to-day product support, internal IT operations and security administration across Wise's products and business systems. We currently operate in Microsoft Azure and are deployed into regulated, operational airport environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Support

• Manage customer incidents and support requests
• Troubleshoot issues
• Escalate defects
• Produce release notes and customer communications
• Maintain support documentation

Product ownership & architecture

• Own the technical architecture of our cloud platform
• Design scalable, resilient and secure systems in Azure
• Improve application structure, performance and reliability
• Lead architectural decisions for new products and modules
• Support API design, integrations and data flows

Cloud, DevOps & infrastructure

• Design, build and maintain Azure infrastructure
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes
• Implement infrastructure-as-code and automation
• Improve monitoring, logging, alerting and observability
• Own backup, disaster recovery and availability strategy

Security & governance

• Own the platform security posture
• Maintain ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials technical controls
• Implement secure development best practice (OWASP, IAM, encryption, secrets management)
• Support vulnerability management, patching and audits

Engineering excellence

• Introduce and enforce coding standards and best practices
• Lead code reviews and architectural reviews
• Improve testing, QA and release confidence
• Improve documentation and system visibility
• Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency

Leadership & growth

• Act as technical lead on new projects
• Mentor and support other engineers
• Shape technical roadmaps aligned to business goals
• Support client-facing technical discussions when needed
