Job summary

Wise Technical Ltd. is seeking an experienced technical leader to own product support, architecture, and cloud infrastructure across its Azure-based platform.

You will manage incidents, improve reliability and lead architectural decisions. You will drive DevOps practices, IaC, monitoring, security controls (ISO27001, Cyber Essentials) and collaborate with engineering and client teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering background in Python and/or PHP.
• Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL) and data-driven systems.
• Experience managing Linux production environments.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure).
• Proven ability to design and operate production systems.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day product support, incident management and customer communication.
• Troubleshoot issues and escalate defects.
• Produce release notes and maintain support documentation.
• Own the technical architecture of our cloud platform and design scalable, secure Azure systems.
• Improve application structure, performance and reliability; lead architectural decisions.
• Support API design, integrations and data flows.
• Design, build and maintain Azure infrastructure; improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Implement infrastructure-as-code and automation; improve observability and monitoring.
• Own backup, disaster recovery and availability strategy.
• Own platform security posture; maintain ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials controls; apply secure development practices.
• Lead and participate in code and architectural reviews; improve testing and QA; document system visibility; drive automation.
• Act as technical lead on new projects; mentor engineers; shape technical roadmaps; support client-facing discussions.

Own day-to-day product support, internal IT operations and security administration across Wise's products and business systems. We currently operate in Microsoft Azure and are deployed into regulated, operational airport environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Support

• Manage customer incidents and support requests
• Troubleshoot issues
• Escalate defects
• Produce release notes and customer communications
• Maintain support documentation

Product ownership & architecture

• Own the technical architecture of our cloud platform
• Design scalable, resilient and secure systems in Azure
• Improve application structure, performance and reliability
• Lead architectural decisions for new products and modules
• Support API design, integrations and data flows

Cloud, DevOps & infrastructure

• Design, build and maintain Azure infrastructure
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes
• Implement infrastructure-as-code and automation
• Improve monitoring, logging, alerting and observability
• Own backup, disaster recovery and availability strategy

Security & governance

• Own the platform security posture
• Maintain ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials technical controls
• Implement secure development best practice (OWASP, IAM, encryption, secrets management)
• Support vulnerability management, patching and audits

Engineering excellence

• Introduce and enforce coding standards and best practices
• Lead code reviews and architectural reviews
• Improve testing, QA and release confidence
• Improve documentation and system visibility
• Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency

Leadership & growth

• Act as technical lead on new projects
