Job summary

Scolmore Group in Redditch is seeking a hands-on Product Manager to shape the ESP product portfolio from concept to launch. You will collaborate with technical, quality, design and manufacturing teams, driving product strategy, roadmap and documentation for the UK wholesale market.

The role requires travel to the Far East and Europe, strong stakeholder skills, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives within a dynamic electrical products environment. Based at Redditch, hours 9:00–17:00.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a product management or product-focused role.
  • Ability to translate market needs into product features and roadmap.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience working with overseas factories and Far East suppliers.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a product strategy aligned with market trends and business objectives.
  • Create and manage the product roadmap with timely feature delivery.
  • Define value propositions with a clear good/better/best UK wholesale offering.
  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis and gather customer feedback.
  • Analyze trends and technologies in fire detection, access control and security products.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements or new offerings using data-driven insights.
  • Create technical product documentation (instructions, specifications, etc.).
  • Ensure documentation, certification, packaging and instructions meet regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical, quality, design and manufacturing teams on specs.
  • Act as liaison between sales, marketing, operations and technical teams.
  • Communicate product updates and milestones to stakeholders.
  • Support other departments with customer enquiries when needed.
  • Monitor product performance using revenue, profitability and market share metrics.
  • Prepare regular reports and strategic recommendations.
  • Make regular trips overseas to Far East and Europe to review projects.
  • Coordinate with global suppliers and business leads across platforms.
  • Assess factory suitability for intended product/project.

Job description

Looking for a role where your ideas can shape innovative products from concept to launch? We're looking for a hands-on and driven Product Manager to join the ESP Technical/Quality team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and deliver the ESP product portfolio, ensuring products meet market needs, customer requirements and business objectives.

Based at our Redditch site, this role is full-time with working hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a product strategy aligned with market trends, customer needs, and business objectives.
  • Create and manage the product roadmap, ensuring timely delivery of new features and updates.
  • Define the unique value proposition for each product in the portfolio ensuring we have a suitable good, better and best offering for UK wholesale market.
  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and customer feedback sessions to identify opportunities and product gaps.
  • Analyse market trends, customer demands, and emerging technologies for fire detection, access control and other security related product.
  • Identify opportunities for product improvements or new offerings based on data-driven insights.
  • Create technical product-related documentation such as instructions, specifications etc.
  • Ensure all product-related documentation from certification, packaging and instructions are in line and kept up to date with regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with technical, quality control, design and manufacturing teams to define product specifications and ensure successful execution.
  • Act as the primary liaison between stakeholders, including sales, marketing, operations, and technical teams.
  • Communicate product updates and key milestones to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support other departments with customer enquiries as and when required.
  • Monitor product performance using key metrics such as revenue, profitability, and market share.
  • Prepare regular reports on product performance and make strategic recommendations.
  • Make regular trips overseas to the Far East and Europe to review fire and security related projects.
  • Communicate with global suppliers and business leads via various platforms.
  • Assess and determine suitability of factory for the intended product/project.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
  • Experience working in a product management or product-focused role
  • Proven ability to support product development from concept through to implementation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience building effective working relationships with overseas factories, including suppliers in the Far East
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Confident user of Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Willing and able to travel within the UK and overseas, occasionally at short notice
  • Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of CE, UKCA and relevant international product standards
  • Knowledge of fire detection, access control and wider security-related products
  • Experience mentoring, coaching or line-managing others
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud applications, such as InDesign
Education and Qualifications
  • GCSE Maths and English or demonstrable experience
  • Option to purchase up to 5 extra days annual leave
