Company Overview
SteadyPay is an award-winning UK FinTech building technology that enables individuals and businesses to access fairer, more inclusive credit.
We combine lending technology, credit risk models, regulatory permissions and operational expertise to deliver lending products directly to customers and through embedded partnerships with banks, neobanks and other financial platforms.
Our technology enables partners to integrate credit products into their own customer journeys through APIs, SDKs and white-label solutions. We're a small, hands-on team where clear thinking, fast execution and data-driven decisions make a real difference.
The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Product Manager to help turn SteadyPay’s product roadmap into delivered, high-quality products across our consumer app and embedded lending platform.
Reporting to the CTO, you’ll work closely with engineering, QA, data science, commercial, partner and compliance teams. You’ll take ownership of agreed product initiatives from requirements through to release, ensuring the team understands what needs to be built, why it matters and how success will be measured.
You’ll have the autonomy to make day-to-day product decisions, prioritise within agreed objectives and recommend improvements, while working with the CTO and leadership team on broader roadmap priorities.
We’re a small, practical team, so this role suits someone who enjoys getting into the detail, solving problems and getting things shipped. You’ll also contribute to product discovery, customer and partner research, and identifying opportunities to improve our products.
Your focus will be on product ownership, prioritisation, requirements and outcomes. You will work closely with our junior Scrum Master, who runs the day-to-day Agile ceremonies and maintains the day-to-day delivery process.
What You’ll Do
Product Ownership & Delivery
- Own the delivery of agreed roadmap initiatives from initial requirements through to release and evaluation.
- Translate business objectives, customer feedback, partner needs and regulatory requirements into clear product specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Maintain a prioritised product backlog, making day-to-day decisions about scope, sequencing and trade-offs within the agreed roadmap.
- Work closely with engineering and QA to resolve questions, clarify requirements and keep delivery moving.
- Collaborate with the Scrum Master and technical leads to support effective sprint planning, refinement, reviews and delivery.
- Identify blockers, dependencies and scope changes early, escalating material risks and decisions when needed.
- Ensure new features are properly tested, documented, released and monitored.
Roadmap & Prioritisation
- Contribute to quarterly roadmap planning, bringing product insights, customer and partner feedback, data and delivery experience to discussions about priorities.
- Work with the CTO, engineering and relevant stakeholders to identify opportunities, assess potential impact, and shape initiatives that support business objectives.
- Help translate strategic goals into a realistic roadmap, taking account of engineering capacity, dependencies, technical complexity and regulatory requirements.
- Recommend priorities and trade-offs, balancing customer value, commercial impact, effort and risk.
- Once the roadmap is agreed, take ownership of translating it into actionable initiatives and delivering against it, making day-to-day product decisions within agreed strategic boundaries.
- Communicate progress, risks and changes clearly, bringing significant new opportunities or proposed changes to the CTO and leadership team for discussion.
Product Discovery & Improvement
- Gather insight from customers, partners and internal teams to identify problems and opportunities.
- Use product analytics, customer feedback and operational data to understand performance and improve conversion, engagement and repayment journeys.
- Contribute to discovery and validation of new features, partner propositions and product opportunities.
- Define success measures for initiatives and assess whether releases achieve their intended outcomes.
Platform & Partner Products
- Help shape and improve our embedded lending proposition, including partner APIs, status pages, native SDKs, partner portals, white-label journeys and embeddable widgets.
- Work with technical teams to understand APIs, integrations, data flows and implementation trade-offs.
- Improve the main customer journeys
- Collaborate with compliance and legal colleagues to ensure products meet relevant regulatory requirements and support fair customer outcomes.
- Keep product documentation accurate, accessible and useful to engineering, commercial and partner-facing teams.
What We’re Looking For
- Around 3 years of experience in product management, product ownership or a closely related technical role, with demonstrable evidence of taking products or features from requirements through to delivery.
- Practical experience working in an Agile environment, including backlog management, sprint-based delivery, prioritisation and collaboration with engineering teams.
- A strong delivery mindset: you enjoy making progress, resolving ambiguity and getting useful products into customers’ hands.
- Experience translating business or customer needs into clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Confidence balancing competing priorities and making decisions within an agreed strategy.
- Ability to learn the technical side of the product that is enough to collaborate effectively with engineers and understand APIs, integrations, data flows and technical trade-offs.
- Strong written communication and organisational skills, including the ability to keep stakeholders informed without creating unnecessary process.
- A thoughtful approach to product quality, customer experience, data and measurable outcomes.
- The judgement to balance customer needs, commercial objectives, technical constraints and regulatory responsibilities. Pragmatic over perfectionist: you pick the solution that works over the one that just looks right, and you stay flexible as needs change.
We’re open to people moving into Product Management from another technical discipline. You don’t necessarily need to have held the formal title of Product Manager, but you should be able to demonstrate relevant experience owning requirements, prioritising work, making product decisions and delivering outcomes with a technical team.
Nice to Have
- Experience with fintech, consumer lending, payments, Open Banking, earned wage access or other regulated products.
- Experience with B2B platforms, APIs, SDKs, integrations or white-label products.
- Familiarity with UK consumer credit regulation, FCA requirements, affordability and Consumer Duty.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence, plus product analytics tools such as Firebase or BigQuery; basic SQL is useful.
- Experience working with distributed teams across different locations or time zones.
UX & Design Experience
Product design skills are a bonus, but not a requirement. You might have experience creating user flows, wireframes or prototypes in Figma, running usability tests, or contributing to a design system or white-label UI kit.
The priority is strong product judgement and delivery. You don’t need to be a designer, but you should care about the usability and quality of the products we build.
What We Offer
- Real ownership: Take responsibility for product planning and delivery across both consumer and embedded lending products.
- Direct impact: Work on products that help people access credit more fairly while enabling partners to serve their customers.
- Close collaboration: Work directly with the CTO, engineering team and leadership in a small, hands-on environment.
- Room to improve things: Help establish effective product processes and shape how the team plans and delivers work.
- Competitive package: Salary, stock options and benefits.
- Flexible working: Hybrid working arrangements and a collaborative team culture.
Interview Process
Our interview process will involve three main stages:
- Recruiter / Intro Call — Background, experience and motivation.
- Product & Delivery Interview — Discussion of product ownership, prioritisation and delivery, potentially including a practical exercise.
- Final Interview — Collaboration, problem-solving and alignment with the team.
We'll aim to keep the process efficient and work around candidate availability.
