Product Manager (Full Time, 6-month and 12-month Fixed Term Contract)

Bristol, Leeds and London – Hybrid

What you will be doing:

This role will sit in our Agile model, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of teams and products lines in Direct Line Group. As a valued member of the Tribe, you will be responsible for helping one of our Squads to deliver business objectives through product management, analysis of customer and market insight, and identifying opportunities to improve trading performance.

  • You will work alongside the Head of Products to align overall insurance vision and strategy with specific squad missions and support the delivery of squad outcomes for one of DLG’s insurance products.
  • Leads on financial aspects such as budgeting, planning, commercial trading and business case production, managing trades-offs between customer and commercial outcomes and strategies.
  • Lead trading meetings with matrix managed stakeholders to articulate current trends and potential risks.
  • Actively seeks out and brings the ‘voice of the customer’ into all squad activities , including sprint planning, execution and retrospectives.
  • Identifies and drives new product and proposition development opportunities in line with consumer demand and overall DLG strategy.
  • Develop test & learn initiatives to improve squad and product performance.
  • Ensures the squad adapts in line with shifts in consumer behaviour and market forces
  • Works with key internal stakeholders to drive alignment with key internal interfaces sitting outside of the tribe structure (Operations / Claims / Customer CoE)
  • Leads on engagement with external business partners creating strong relationships and effective dialogue to drive agreed outcomes.
  • Builds deep understanding of regulatory landscape and identifies implications on business models, products and processes.

What we are looking for:

We’re looking for a creative problem solver who is inquisitive, possesses strong commercial acumen, results driven and always looking for ways to do things differently to help us continue to provide insurance that suits our customers’ needs and changing market.

If you’re familiar with Agile ways of working, that would be beneficial, but not essential.

  • Business and financial acumen gained from relevant experience in a similar role.
  • A deep understanding of the insurance sector, including the consumer, competitor and regulatory landscape.
  • Ability to gather and synthesise information from a broad range of customer, market and competitor sources to build a rich, robust information base about the wider business context and use this insight to drive idea generation and execution.
  • Skilled at developing key relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to maximise support for the business (external stakeholders could include Business Partners, Industry bodies and our Regulators. )
  • Experience of managing financial aspects such as budgeting, planning, commercial trading and producing business cases. Able to manage complex trades-offs between customer and commercial outcomes and strategy.
