Job summary

EMBS Engineering in Derby recruits a hands-on Product Engineer to guide products through engineering and manufacturing phases, supporting NPI and sustainment programmes. You will apply Lean, 5S and FOD to improve efficiency, collaborating with production, engineering, sales and purchasing to maintain safety, quality, delivery and cost.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in Production/Manufacturing/Applications Engineering or similar in advanced manufacturing or precision engineering.
• Experience in machine manufacturing environment.
• Proficient CAD design with third angle projection and GD&T.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Degree or HND in Engineering, Electronics, Physics or similar.
• Knowledge of Lean, DfMA and DFMEA/PFMEA processes.
• Strong communication skills with internal teams and customers.
• Flexible, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering solutions for new products and improvements, applying DfMA.
• Support deployment of new products into production, guiding designs through stage gates (NPI).
• Serve as main contact for customers, manage change proposals per QMS/NPI.
• Manage sustainment and NPI projects from inception to completion.
• Oversee verification/validation activities, risk reduction and documentation.
• Design and produce detailed drawings for components, tooling, jigs and fixtures using 2D/3D CAD.
• Develop and maintain BoM, test harnesses, routings and work instructions.
• Investigate customer returns via SCAR and 8D processes; identify root causes and concessions.
