Job summary
EMBS Engineering in Derby is recruiting a Product Engineer to join an established manufacturing engineering team. This hands-on role guides products through engineering and manufacturing phases, supporting NPI and sustainment programmes.
You will apply Lean, 5S and FOD methodologies to improve efficiency, collaborating with production, engineering, sales and purchasing to focus on safety, quality, delivery and cost.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years' experience in Production/Manufacturing/Applications Engineering in advanced manufacturing or precision engineering.
- Experience in a machine manufacturing environment.
- Strong CAD and design knowledge, with GD&T.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Engineering degree or HND in Engineering or related subject.
- Lean manufacturing principles, DfMA and DFMEA/PFMEA knowledge.
- Strong communication skills, liaising with internal teams and customers.
- Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering solutions for new products and improvements across the full DfMA process.
- Support deployment of new products into production and guide designs through stage gates in NPI.
- Act as main point of contact for customers and manage change proposals per QMS and NPI.
- Manage sustainment and NPI projects from inception to completion.
- Oversee verification/validation, risk reduction and supporting documentation.
- Design and produce detailed drawings for components, tooling, jigs and fixtures using 2D/3D CAD.
