Job summary

Better Cotton Initiative is seeking a Product Engineer in London to design and build production software powering supply‑chain workflows, traceability, and interoperability with external platforms. You will collaborate with product designers, engineers, and teams to deliver reliable, scalable digital tools and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Degree in a technical, product, or related field is valuable but not required; demonstrated production software experience matters.
• 5+ years of relevant experience building and shipping production digital products.
• Hands‑on engineering capability across frontend, backend, and data layers.
• Experience taking products from prototype to production and continuous improvement.
• Strong product and interaction‑design judgement with designers and experts.
• Experience building data‑intensive enterprise products, APIs, and integrations.
• Experience with AI coding agents as part of development, testing, and review.
• Experience testing, deploying, monitoring, and supporting production apps.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, CI/CD, automated testing, and reliable production systems.
• Familiarity with agricultural commodities, supply chains, or regulated workflows is valuable.
• Fluency in English is required.

Responsibilities

• Review and stress‑test requirements, identify unclear assumptions and unnecessary complexity before build.
• Collaborate with Product Designer to shape simple user flows for supply‑chain workflows.
• Translate solutions into clear, testable delivery increments and build high‑quality features.
• Design and implement reliable integrations with internal/external platforms for traceability and reporting.
• Use AI coding agents throughout prototyping, development, testing, and debugging to accelerate delivery.
• Write automated tests, instrument products to track adoption and performance, and release features safely.
