Job summary

Butler Rose is recruiting a Product Engineer for a well-established manufacturing group in Exeter. You will help develop and improve manufacturing processes in a technical production environment, collaborating with production, quality and customer-facing teams.

Reporting to the Product Engineering Team Leader, you will apply Six Sigma and Lean methods to reduce waste, support projects from concept to implementation, and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC or equivalent in Engineering.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing.
• Experience with CAD software and tooling design.
• Strong IT skills including MS Office and MRP systems.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building.
• Ability to manage projects with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust manufacturing processes and engineering standards.
• Provide technical support to production teams to ensure high-quality products.
• Manage engineering projects from concept through implementation.
• Utilise CAD, CNC and 3D modelling tools to support manufacturing activities.
• Apply Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, rework and process variation.
• Analyse manufacturing data and prepare qualification, scrap and rework reports.
• Implement process controls and dimensional improvements to enhance product quality.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs through process optimisation and waste reduction.
• Present technical information and project updates to a range of stakeholders.
• Promote and maintain a safe working environment in line with company standards.

Butler Rose is delighted to be recruiting for a Product Engineer on behalf of a well-established and highly successful manufacturing organisation based in Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to join a forward-thinking business, supporting the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes within a technically advanced production environment.

The Role

Reporting to the Product Engineering Team Leader, you will play a key role in developing, implementing and maintaining best practice across product engineering activities. You will work closely with production, quality and customer-facing teams to ensure products are manufactured efficiently, meet customer requirements and achieve the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust manufacturing processes and engineering standards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline.
• Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience using CAD software and/or tooling design principles.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and MRP systems.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational and project management capabilities.
• A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.
• Confidence presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Injection moulding, ceramics processing or related manufacturing technologies.
• Experience supporting complex production environments and process development activities.
