Job summary

CA Tech Talent is seeking a mechanical engineer to design and develop new products from concept through production at our Exeter site. You will create production-ready 3D models and 2D drawings, drive design for manufacture, and collaborate with Production Engineering and Purchasing to deliver high-quality products on time.

The role involves DFMEA, tolerance analysis, and ensuring compliance with ISO9001:2015 procedures, with an emphasis on manufacturability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
• Carry out Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and ensure actions are completed.
• Perform tolerance analysis to ensure product function and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software
• Develop production-ready designs with a strong focus on design for manufacture
• Work alongside production engineering to optimise existing product designs
• Recommend suitable manufacturing methods for in-house and outsourced production
• Carry out DFMEA and ensure identified actions are completed
• Liaise with Development, Production Engineering and Purchasing teams throughout the product development process
• Maintain accurate project documentation and progress updates
• Ensure all work complies with ISO9001:2015 procedures

Role Overview:

• Design and develop new mechanical products from concept through to production
• Produce accurate engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation
