Product Development Engineer
Location: Birmingham
Salary: Up to £45,000 (DOE)
Job Type: Permanent

Position Overview:
We’re on the lookout for a Product Development Engineer to join a busy and growing design team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in CAD, a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, and a genuine interest in turning ideas into real-world products.

Daily Duties Will Include:

1. Designing and developing high-quality, precision components using AutoDesk Inventor (or similar CAD software).
2. Producing 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and technical documentation.
3. Working closely with production teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
4. Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
5. Supporting the full product lifecycle – from concept and prototyping through to final production.

Requirements:

1. Strong proficiency in CAD software – AutoDesk Inventor preferred.
2. Good understanding of metalworking and machining techniques.
3. High attention to detail and solid problem-solving ability.
4. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
5. Experience using AutoDesk Vault.
6. Previous work in the door or cabinet hardware sector.
7. Hands-on experience within a manufacturing environment.
8. Degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
9. Experience creating technical specifications and BOMs for production.
