Job summary

News UK seeks a Product Designer focused on Data & Applied AI to own the design language and component architecture for internal tools, including Arc. You will bridge AI discovery with engineering to deliver a unified design system in Figma and prototype production‑ready interfaces.

You'll partner with AI managers and engineers, run usability sessions, and contribute to a data‑driven newsroom experience across The Sun, The Times, and talkSPORT. Hybrid work with in‑office days is required.

Qualifications

• Deep practical knowledge of Figma including auto-layout, variables, design tokens, interactive components, and library management.
• Experience building, documenting, and scaling reusable UI component libraries for shared, complex design systems.
• Strong portfolio showing visual craftsmanship and ability to convert wireframes into polished, accessible high‑fidelity interfaces.
• Clear documentation habits and collaboration with front‑end/Design Engineers for pixel‑perfect implementation.
• Excellent communication to keep stakeholders updated on progress, risks and blockers.
• Passion for AI‑native design tools, systems thinking, and an interest in media + data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Design high‑fidelity UI patterns for core internal tools (Arc) and internal AI tools from requirements.
• Build, scale and maintain a unified Data & AI design system in Figma with tokens and components.
• Provide UX/UI guidance on prototypes and ensure adherence to internal UI themes and usability best practices.
• Collaborate with Product Design Engineer to translate Figma components into production‑ready code libraries.
• Run quick usability testing on prototypes to validate UI clarity and flows with internal users.
• Create rapid visuals and prototypes to secure stakeholder buy‑in and gather feedback from AI trials.
