Job Description
Your role:

As Product Designer - Data & Applied AI, reporting to the Head of Applied AI and Product Design, you will sit at the cutting edge of internal AI products and newsroom analytics tools. You will own the visual language and component architecture for our internal tools—including Arc, our internal newsroom analytics tool acting as the crucial design bridge between AI managers and engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to build and scale a unified 'Data & AI UI Kit' in Figma while using AI-native workflows to transform rapid prototypes into beautiful, user‑centric experiences.

Day to day you will
  • Design intuitive, high‑fidelity UI and interaction patterns for core internal tools and rapid AI prototypes based on discovery requirements.
  • Build, scale, and maintain a unified 'Data & AI UI Kit' in Figma, defining tokens, UI patterns, and component variants.
  • Partner closely with our Product Design Engineer to translate Figma components seamlessly into production‑ready code libraries.
  • Lead usability testing and feedback sessions on Figma prototypes to validate UI clarity and interaction flows directly with journalists and internal stakeholders.
  • Create rapid visual concepts and prototypes to secure stakeholder alignment and support centralised AI trial feedback.
What we're looking for from you
  • Advanced mastery of Figma, including deep practical knowledge of auto‑layout, variables, design tokens, interactive components, and library management.
  • Proven track record of creating, documenting, and scaling reusable UI component libraries for complex design systems.
  • Strong portfolio showing high visual craftsmanship, intuitive UI design, and the ability to convert workflow maps into accessible high‑fidelity interfaces.
  • Clear communication and collaborative habits when pairing with Design Engineers for pixel‑perfect implementation and keeping cross‑functional teams aligned.
  • Passion for AI‑native design tools and curiosity to explore emerging workflows or data visualization in a media environment.
