Job summary

Metrea seeks a Product Design Lead to guide a team of designers responsible for UI/UX across our software products. You will ensure the design function has the people, tools, and frameworks to deliver functionally excellent and aesthetically compelling software.

This is a team leadership role, not a hands-on design position, with base options in London or Stockholm and a hybrid work setup requiring office presence three days a week.

Qualifications

• Enthusiasm for cross-functional collaboration, relationship-building, and shared purpose; calendar is likely 50% meetings.
• At least two years of formal line-management experience within Product Design, UX or Experience Design.
• A passion for nature, art, or the humanities alongside your technical abilities.
• Familiarity with different software platform technologies (web, Windows, mobile, VR, AR, AI) and design tools such as Figma, React and Photoshop.
• Clear enthusiasm to scale Product Design within a growing organisation using frameworks, governance, and systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide people leadership to a team of 5 Product Designers (clarifying roles, hiring, developing skills, performance management, resource planning).
• Lead regular Product Design meetings including teambuilding and development workshops.
• Work closely with Product Management and Creative Design to develop a design system for multiple products.
• Advocate for the team and the value of Product Design across Product, Engineering and the wider organisation.
