Job summary
Cummins Inc. in Wellingborough is seeking a Product Design Engineer to join our Distribution Business Unit, focusing on design, development and product support.
You will translate customer needs into robust engineering solutions across disciplines, driving design reviews and validation using Creo, iDFMEA and ANSYS Workbench. You will apply Lean Product Development practices and collaborate with suppliers and technicians to deliver high-quality, reliable components and assemblies within project
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Experience applying engineering principles to product design, development, product support, testing.
- Experience creating engineering designs and 3D models using PTC Creo (preferred) or equivalent CAD software.
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies, design reviews, or continuous improvement processes.
- Experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment and contributing to technical project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Investigate product issues, identify root causes, and develop sustainable solutions to improve performance.
- Lead design reviews and validation using iDFMEA, Creo and ANSYS Workbench.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate requirements and provide technical recommendations.
- Deliver engineering solutions balancing technical, customer, quality, cost and reliability goals.
- Drive projects by managing priorities, timelines and deliverables with technicians and suppliers.
- Build technical expertise and contribute ideas to improve products and processes.
