Job summary

Travail Employment Group represents a Wellingborough based client seeking a hands-on Design Engineer to support engine systems projects across multiple sectors. The role is temporary with a minimum six months and offers hybrid working within a commutable distance of Wellingborough.

You will design components and assemblies using CREO, generate CAD models, BOMs in Windchill, and collaborate with suppliers and customers worldwide on new product development and modifications.

Qualifications

• Experience designing products from concept through to manufacture.
• Proficient in 3D modelling and CAD drawing production.
• Experience with Windchill PLM.
• Ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines.
• Good communication with international teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed designs for diesel engine systems, fabricated structures, frames and defence-related assemblies.
• Work on new product development as well as modifications and improvements to existing projects.
• Produce accurate CAD models, drawings and technical documentation using CREO.
• Generate and maintain BOMs through Windchill.
• Collaborate with suppliers, customers and internal teams including commercial, technical, manufacturing and production.
• Support prototype builds, testing phases and design validation activities.
• Ensure designs meet relevant defence, automotive and manufacturing standards.
• Manage and deliver up to three concurrent projects, maintaining strong control over time-lines and deliverables.
• Act as a project engineer who drives tasks forward.
• Work effectively with colleagues ensuring clear communication and documentation.
• Defence sector experience - highly advantageous.
• Automotive or heavy vehicle engineering - beneficial.
• Other backgrounds will be considered where candidates have designed and delivered products from scratch (e.g., machinery, engines, fabricated structures, industrial equipment and construction).
• Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
