Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an experienced Design Technology Teacher specializing in Product Design to join a secondary school near Swindon for a fixed-term contract from January 2027 to August 2027. The role focuses on GCSE preparation and delivering Product Design within the Design Technology department.

You will plan and deliver engaging lessons, monitor progress, support coursework and NEA requirements, and collaborate with a supportive team to drive pupil achievement.

Qualifications

• QTS or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong subject knowledge and demonstrable experience teaching Design Technology with a focus on Product Design.
• Proven experience leading GCSE examination classes through to completion.
• Demonstrated track record of securing positive GCSE results and pupil progress.
• Excellent understanding of GCSE assessment objectives, exam preparation and NEA requirements.
• Strong classroom management, organisation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Full-time Design Technology teaching with a focus on Product Design.
• Responsible for GCSE exam classes and preparation for the Summer 2027 exam series.
• Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons across relevant secondary key stages.
• Monitor pupil progress, identify gaps, and implement interventions.
• Support pupils with coursework and non-exam assessment requirements where applicable.
• Maintain high expectations of behaviour, achievement and engagement.
• Collaborate with the established Design Technology department.
