Role Summary

A position for a senior and experienced Product Controller within the Market Making Product Control team.

Will be responsible for production and also for the review of various daily desk P&Ls and commentaries, monthly balance sheet substantiation and review, monthly and quarterly performance reporting and analysis.

Provide effective control of revenues and costs, including trading, commission income, costs of trading (COT) and bonus calculations.

The role encompasses the Market Making desks (primarily Metals, Agricultural and Environmental products) as well as Treasury Product Control (structural rate and FX risk) and the production and review of global consolidated Group results.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation or review, analysis and reporting of daily P&L and related commentaries
  • Assist in reviewing daily consolidated Group P&L
  • Build and maintain relationships with both Front Office and other control areas including Risk, Treasury, FP&A, Tax and Operations and gain commercial understanding of the relevant businesses and their operational processes
  • Prepare or review monthly bonus calculations for relevant profit centres, obtain sign off from respective desks and Finance management and submit to HR by payroll cut-off date
  • Prepare or review balance sheet substantiation ensuring all allocated accounts are fairly represented considering legal entity, completeness, valuation and balance sheet classification
  • Improve/automate Product Control processes by understanding non/semi-automated processes, designing automated processes and deliver improvement working with relevant technology teams
  • Assist in internal and external audit activities
  • Ensure all Product Control activities are documented in sufficient detail and are kept up to date at all times

Skills and Experience

  • ACA Qualified accountant (or equivalent)
  • In depth understanding of product control processes, systems and frameworks
  • Excellent team player
  • Good attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Analytical and accounting skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with senior management and Front Office staff
  • Proficient in MS Excel and use of GL systems (ideally PeopleSoft) and FO/BO systems
  • Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of the risk and compliance requirements associated with this.
  • A collaborative team player, approachable, self-efficient and influences a positive work environment
  • Resilient in a challenging, fast-paced environment
