An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Product Controller in the heart of London. This role is with a leading financial markets and commodities bank, renowned for its unique global network and unrivalled level of expertise. What you'll do:

As a Product Controller, your role will be pivotal in maintaining the integrity of the financial statements through preparation and independent verification of daily and monthly Profit & Loss account, balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation. You will also be involved in price testing of trading inventory. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include preparing daily P&L reporting for a trading desk or group within a specific asset class. You will also be involved in month-end reconciliation between reported P&L and official books and records. Your role will extend beyond these core tasks to include preparation and development of Management Information (MI) as well as involvement in project-based components such as implementation of new systems or processes.

• Production of daily profit and loss (P&L) accounts from trading activity
• Validation of P&L against attribution received from Trading or Risk systems
• Understanding drivers of P&L based on knowledge of risk exposure and market movements
• Providing daily commentary on P&L once relevant thresholds have been exceeded
• Ensuring completeness, accuracy and integrity of the Bank’s accounting ledger via reconciliations, posting ledger entries and attestation
• Identifying and flagging any issues encountered before they become major issues, suggesting ways to remedy where feasible

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Product Control Specialist role brings several years' experience in a similar role within an Investment Bank, Hedge Fund or Trading House. You are knowledgeable about various asset classes including FX, Rates & Credit Commodities Base Metals Precious Metals Energy (Oil & Gas). Your hands-on experience in P&L Production, coupled with your understanding of Balance sheet substantiation and Market Risk concepts, will be key to your success in this role. You are proficient in MS Excel & VBA, with experience in Murex & SAP being a plus. Your strong analytical skills and ability to perform root cause analysis will be crucial in identifying and addressing issues before they escalate. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to effectively liaise with various internal and external stakeholders.

• Several years experience in a P&L Production role at an Investment Bank, Hedge Fund or Trading House across either FX, Rates & Credit Commodities Base Metals Precious Metals Energy (Oil & Gas)
• Good understanding of Balance sheet substantiation and Market Risk concepts (e.g. VAR and backtesting)
• Proficiency in MS Excel & VBA required
• Experience in Murex & SAP preferred but not essential
• Strong analytical skills and ability to perform root cause analysis
• Experience in regulated environments with understanding of risk and compliance
