Job summary

Aldwych Consulting in the United Kingdom is recruiting a Buyer to support civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The role focuses on sourcing construction materials, plant and related services, while negotiating competitive prices and delivery terms.

You will build supplier relationships, coordinate with site teams and internal stakeholders, and ensure timely delivery in line with programmes and budgets.

Qualifications

• Experience in buying or procurement within construction, civil engineering, water or rail.
• Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
• Ability to manage multiple supplier relationships and competing priorities.
• Good communication, organisational and IT skills.
• CIPS qualification or working towards one is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure construction materials, plant and related services.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations, negotiating prices and delivery terms.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, site teams and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure materials and services are delivered in line with programmes, budgets and quality.
• Monitor procurement costs, maintain purchasing records and support reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency and achieve best value.
