Job summary

Aldwych Consulting Ltd in Walsall is seeking a motivated Buyer to join its civil engineering and infrastructure team, supporting projects across water, transport, energy and the built environment. The role suits someone with procurement experience in construction or engineering, offering training and development within a busy, commercially focused department.

You will source materials, negotiate with suppliers, manage relationships, and ensure delivery aligns with programme, budget and quality

Qualifications

• Experience in buying/procurement, ideally in construction or civil engineering
• Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness
• Confident managing supplier relationships and competing priorities
• Good communication, organisation and IT skills
• CIPS qualification or working towards one would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Source and procure construction materials, plant and related services
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations, negotiating competitive prices and delivery terms
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, site teams and internal stakeholders
• Ensure materials and services are delivered in line with project programmes, budgets and quality requirements
• Monitor procurement costs, maintain accurate purchasing records and support commercial reporting
• Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency and achieve best value

We're looking for a motivated Buyer to join an established civil engineering and infrastructure business, supporting projects across water, transport, energy and the built environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with procurement experience in construction or engineering to develop their career within a busy, commercially focused team.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure construction materials, plant and related services.
