Job summary

Birmingham City Council is hiring six Sourcing Practitioners to join our newly established Sourcing Team in Birmingham. This permanent role offers 36.5 hours per week, a Grade C- salary of £35,412–£44,075, and hybrid working arrangements.

You will help develop sourcing strategies, support tendering activity, and build strong relationships with stakeholders to deliver value for money and ethical procurement for one of the UK’s largest local authorities.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting procurement, sourcing or commercial activities in a regulated environment.
• Knowledge of procurement processes, tendering and contract administration.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to provide clear guidance.
• Experience using procurement systems and technology to support delivery.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret information and present data for decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and delivery of sourcing strategies that meet organisational needs and deliver value for money.
• Assist with procurement and tendering activities, ensuring governance compliance and best practice.
• Build effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers, providing guidance throughout the procurement process.
• Collect and analyse supplier and procurement data to support contract performance and risk management.
• Manage procurement enquiries and contribute to guidance, toolkits, handbooks and communications for colleagues and suppliers.
• Support the effective use of procurement systems and technology to improve efficiency.
• Maintain accurate procurement records to support governance and audits.
