Job summary

Polytec Personnel Ltd. is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join an innovative technology manufacturing business near Royston.

You will own procurement operations, develop the supply chain, manage inventory and drive supplier performance to support a scale‑up of production activities. You will lead quotations, purchasing processes and reporting, while balancing strategic improvements with daily operational demands.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in procurement, purchasing or a related supply chain role.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to balance strategic improvements with day-to-day operational demands.
• Good analytical and reporting skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other office software.
• Experience implementing business systems or managing improvement projects would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement purchasing processes for quotes, POs, goods receipt, inspection, invoicing and inventory control.
• Improve supply chain planning and move toward demand-driven replenishment.
• Manage supplier relationships and negotiate terms to cut costs.
• Monitor stock levels to ensure material availability for production schedules.
• Track procurement metrics including costs, inventory performance and cashflow forecasts.
• Oversee third-party logistics activities and streamline operations.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, operations and finance to align procurement with business goals.

This is a hands‑on role based near Royston, where you will take ownership of procurement operations, supply chain development, inventory management and supplier performance, helping to support the scale‑up of production activities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust purchasing processes covering quotations, purchase orders, goods receipt, inspection, invoice reconciliation and inventory management.
• Drive improvements in supply chain planning, transitioning towards demand-driven replenishment systems.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate commercial terms and identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure material availability to support manufacturing schedules.
• Track and report key procurement metrics, including inventory performance, costs and cashflow forecasts.
• Oversee third-party logistics activities and support efficient operational processes.
• Work closely with manufacturing, operations and finance teams to ensure procurement activities align with business objectives.
