Job summary

Polytec is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager near Royston to take ownership of procurement operations, supply chain development, inventory management and supplier performance as the company scales.

You will work hands-on to drive purchasing processes, cost reductions and system improvements while collaborating with manufacturing, operations and finance teams to align procurement with business objectives. This permanent role offers a 37.5-hour week and a salary of £35,000–£40,000.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in procurement, purchasing or a related supply chain role.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to balance strategic improvements with day-to-day operational demands.
• Proficiency with Excel and other office software.
• Experience implementing business systems or managing improvement projects would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust purchasing processes covering quotations, purchase orders, goods receipt, inspection, invoice reconciliation and inventory management.
• Drive improvements in supply chain planning, transitioning towards demand-driven replenishment systems.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate commercial terms and identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure material availability to support manufacturing schedules.
• Track and report key procurement metrics, including inventory performance, costs and cashflow forecasts.
• Oversee third-party logistics activities and support efficient operational processes.
• Work closely with manufacturing, operations and finance teams to ensure procurement activities align with business objectives.
