Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment in Sheffield is seeking a Procurement Manager to lead the purchasing, supply chain and subcontract procurement functions, aligning with business objectives and driving performance.

You will develop supplier relationships, monitor KPIs, set departmental strategy, guide a high-performing team, and collaborate with operations to support growth; days-based role with Fridays early finish. This is a full-time, on-site position in Sheffield.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain within manufacturing/engineering.
  • Strong track record of managing supplier performance, cost control and operational improvements.
  • Experience leading and developing teams with excellent people management and communication skills.
  • Successful project planning, implementation and delivering business improvements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a commercial mindset.
  • Excellent organisational skills; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and MS Office applications.
  • CIPS qualification or equivalent is desirable.

Procurement Manager

  • Annual Salary: 40,000 - 50,000
  • Location: Sheffield
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Hours: Days-based role with early finish on Fridays

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead and manage the purchasing, supply chain, and subcontract procurement functions, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to achieve optimal quality, cost, delivery, and service performance.
  • Oversee supply chain operations, monitoring KPIs and implementing improvements to drive efficiency, productivity, and performance.
  • Set departmental strategy, goals, and priorities, ensuring effective planning, resource allocation, and project delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, embedding processes and best practices across the supply chain function.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team through performance management, recruitment, training, and succession planning.
  • Collaborate closely with operational and commercial teams to support business growth and customer requirements.
  • Identify risks and challenges proactively, presenting practical, commercially focused solutions and recommendations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience within purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong track record of managing supplier performance, cost control, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Experience leading and developing teams, with excellent people management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable success in project planning, implementation, and delivering business improvements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities with a commercial mindset.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced Microsoft Office applications.
  • CIPS qualification or equivalent professional procurement qualification is desirable.
