Job summary

Five Rivers Environmental Contracting Ltd. is seeking a Procurement Assistant / Buyer to support the Pre-Construction team, ensuring materials, plant, equipment and subcontractors are sourced at the right price and time.

You will obtain quotes, compare options, raise purchase orders and collaborate with project teams to keep projects on track and commercially strong. This hybrid role offers a pathway to develop procurement skills within a growing environmental contractor.

Qualifications

• Experience in procurement, buying or similar admin roles.
• Desirable: experience in construction, civils or contracting.

Responsibilities

• Get quotes for materials, plant, equipment and subcontractor services.
• Compare quotes on price, quality, lead times and terms, and recommend the best option.
• Raise and manage accurate purchase orders in line with company procedures.
• Handle supplier enquiries and routine price negotiations.
• Help onboard new suppliers and subcontractors and keep our approved supplier list up to date.
• Keep supplier performance, including price, quality and delivery, under review.
• Build and manage project procurement schedules and the procurement planner.
• Arrange plant off-hires and collections to avoid unnecessary hire costs.
• Keep procurement records organised and up to date.
• Attend project meetings and keep Project Managers, Site Managers, QSs and Estimators updated
