Job description

Behind every great lesson is a central team ensuring our schools have the resources and services they need. As a specialist in procurement administration here, you aren't just processing paperwork - you are establishing the operational foundations that allow our school leaders to focus on teaching.

In this exciting new role you will serve as the administrative hub for our central procurement function, ensuring seamless communication across all Trust schools and make it your own.

Why This Role Matters .

Your immediate, high-impact focus will be leading the transition of our contract records from Excel into the dedicated Multiquote database, establishing automated review schedules that safeguard public funds. Beyond this digital migration, you will coordinate Tender Working Parties, manage our weekly procurement updates, and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including our School Business Managers.

This is a hybrid all year round role working 15 hours over 2 or 3 days Tuesday to Thursday with office-based and home working. Alternative working patterns will be considered on request.

What You’ll Bring
  • Proven experience in data migration, database management, and maintaining structured digital filing systems.
  • Outstanding accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain clean data standards during system transitions.
  • Strong communication skills, with a collaborative approach to supporting School Business Managers and central colleagues.
  • High-level organisational skills to track master project deadlines and flag potential operational delays early.
  • Confidence in administering tender documentation, preparing standard contracts, and coordinating cross-trust working parties.
The "Why Us" Difference
  • Professional Agency: We trust your expertise. You will have full ownership of the Multiquote database setup and the day-to-day administrative engine of the department.
  • Agile Working: Enjoy genuine hybrid flexibility, balancing home working with a minimum of one collaborative day in our Central Team offices.
  • Structured Impact: Work directly alongside the Head of Procurement and Procurement Contract Performance Managers in a cohesive, supportive environment where operational improvements are valued and acted upon.
  • Professional Security: Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and full recognition of your continuous government-funded school service.
  • Shared Growth: Support for role-specific CPLD, formal professional qualifications, and clear developmental pathways.
  • The Whole Person: 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, funded health perks, and a workplace culture that respects your life outside of work

Education has the power to change lives, communities and society for the better. At RLT we believe that we can achieve more for our pupils, trainees, staff and communities by working together rather than alone. Schools in RLT are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to shared principles.

OUR VISION is for our schools and SCITT to improve rapidly, continuously and sustainably: to be better faster together.

OUR ‘WHY?’ is that children and young people ‘only get one go’ in school and therefore as part of RLT we aim to ensure the best possible ‘go’ for our pupils.

OUR ‘HOW?’ is through the highest support and challenge for our schools and each other, underpinned by our principles.

This role includes regulated activity relevant to children.

The River Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism. The Trust is required to conduct a variety of checks and online searches about you as part of their recruitment process in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. It is an offence to apply for certain roles within schools if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. The River Learning Trust is an equal opportunities employer committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all staff, free from discrimination and harassment.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.
