Job description

Job Purpose

The role sits within the Procurement department, supporting both direct procurement for space projects and wider business procurement requirements. It focuses on integrating procurement activities into project teams and enhancing project performance. The position involves working with space-flight approved suppliers to manage the procurement and timely delivery of parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Processing purchase request forms into Purchase Orders (PO) on ERP Finance system Sage and issuing to Suppliers.
  2. Ensuring required statements inclusion and supporting good purchasing practices and adherence to ABSL PO Terms and Conditions.
  3. Ensuring procurement processes and authorization limits are followed.
  4. Sourcing suitable non-project suppliers, obtaining competitive quotes, and managing purchasing activities for consumable items.
  5. Acting as the lead project team procurement department interface, attending project meetings as required to define procurement requirements and timelines tailored to the project needs.
  6. Maintaining and updating project procurement sheets regularly with the latest information, including delivery dates and order status.
  7. Monitoring and tracking procurement delivery schedules, chasing suppliers, and reporting progress to project teams and department leads.
  8. Reporting project procurement progress to department leads and other business stakeholders using prescribed formats.
  9. Liaising with Finance on any purchasing discrepancies and following through on any required actions.
  10. Dealing directly with suppliers in a timely manner to resolve any purchasing concerns such as shortages or lead time changes.
  11. Maintaining Procurement KPIs for delivery.
  12. Progress chasing of purchase orders with feedback to requestors.
  13. Issuing Supplier Questionnaires and Export Compliance forms in line with procedures.
  14. Maintaining all Purchasing documentation, both paper and electronic, for traceability and audit purposes, according to correct procedures.
  15. Completing purchasing activities in a timely manner.
  16. Managing the process for disposal of confidential waste.
  17. Logging visitors on-site using the online bookings system.
  18. Supporting all roles and departments within the Supply Chain when needed.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  2. Proficient in MS Office / Office 365.
  3. Ability to work in a multi-project environment.
  4. Effective prioritization and work management skills.
  5. Excellent people skills, proven team worker, and ability to work independently.
  6. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Flexible and adaptable to meet business needs.
  8. Use of initiative with good problem-solving and analytical skills.
