Wage: $22.68 per hour plus $1,000 annual bonus

Paradise Island Foods Inc is a family-owned food production company based out of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Since 1978, Paradise Island Cheese has prided itself on providing all-natural and organic cheese varieties, as well as an extensive line of bakery, foodservice, and industrial cheese varieties. In our facility, we now run 3 production lines that cut, slice, shred, and package natural cheeses and manufacture cheese alternatives/processed cheese.

We are now in search of competent individuals experienced in working on a cheese production line at rotating stations. As a Processed Cheese Cook, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of processed cheese products. This role involves a deep understanding of cheesemaking processes, aging techniques, and sensory analysis.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Select ingredients needed according to the cooking plan given.
  • Bring/assemble ingredients needed according to the plan given.
  • Sanitize all equipment, ensuring all food contact equipment is completely sanitized.
  • Test and verify that scales are working correctly.
  • Set up the cooker, tables, grinder, and other related utensils.
  • Preparation of ingredients needed for the cheese recipe scheduled for the day.
  • Ensure that proper cooking procedures are followed and GMP are strictly observed before, during, and after cooking.
  • Ensure all forms are filled out accordingly during the day and report results to the supervisor.
  • Maintain good communication with the supervisor at the beginning, during, and at the end of the shift.

Employment Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Proven experience as a processed cheese cook or in a similar role preferred.
  • Familiarity with production line equipment and utensils.
  • Ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Your Skills:

  • Good physical stamina.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
