Job summary

Southern Water is seeking a Process Technician - Mechanic to join its Wastewater Team across Battle/Hastings/Rye sites. The role requires maintenance of pumps, motors and gear boxes, with travel across multiple sites and a valid UK driving licence.

The team focuses on safety, environment, and continuous improvement in water treatment facilities. You will perform reactive and planned maintenance, install new equipment, respond to alarms, and provide technical support to contractors, with

Responsibilities

• Undertake reactive and planned maintenance of plant and equipment such as pumps, motors and gear boxes.
• Install new plant and equipment as required.
• Respond to alarms and fault-find issues, fixing or escalating as needed.
• Carry out inspection and testing on mechanical equipment following company procedures.
• Provide technical expertise to internal and external contractors.
• Update company systems and databases accurately and promptly.
• Participation in standby cover on a 1-in-7 rota basis when required.

Process Technician - Mechanic

Location: Battle/Hastings/Rye area - you will also need to be willing to travel across multiple sites and have a current full driving licence.

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 38 hours

Salary: Base pay ranges £38,247.41 - £45,896.13 per annum (depending on skills and experience)

About the role

Join our Wastewater Team to maintain and repair wastewater treatment works, sludge centres, and pumping stations. Ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety standards while supporting continuous improvement.

What you'll bring to the role:

Essential

• Level 3 NVQ Mechanical qualification with certificates.
• Full UK driving licence.

• Strong understanding of pumping station operation and wastewater treatment process.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
