Job summary

YTL UK is seeking a Process Scientist to join the Science team in Somerset, ensuring water recycling centres meet regulatory and quality standards. The role combines office and field work with occasional travel across the region.

You will monitor sewage treatment processes, provide technical support, engage with internal teams and with the Environment Agency, and lead initiatives to reduce costs while improving process performance.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent level of experience in a science, environmental or engineering subject.
• Sound knowledge of environmental permitting and wastewater treatment processes.
• COSHH experience would be highly desirable.
• IT literacy.
• Data analysis skills – comfortable using Microsoft Excel to an intermediate level.
• A valid full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and optimise sewage treatment processes.
• Ensure compliance with environmental permits and quality standards.
• Provide process support to operational staff.
• Lead initiatives to reduce operational costs and improve performance.
• Collaborate with engineering and construction colleagues to install and commission new plant.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including the Environment Agency.
