Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Norwich, UK is seeking a Process Quality Engineer to own quality across in-house manufacturing, sub-assembly and final assembly of Formula 1 power unit components. You will establish process controls, drive CAPA and APQP deliverables, and ensure robust, defect-free production through GD&T and MSA applications.

The role requires hands-on problem solving in machining and additive manufacturing environments, cross-functional collaboration with Engineering and Supplier

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field.
  • Experience in process or manufacturing quality.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, APQP/PPAP, SPC, and MSA.
  • Experience supporting machining and/or additive manufacturing processes.
  • Proven experience in root cause analysis and CAPA systems.
  • Ability to work hands-on in manufacturing and assembly environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain process controls, inspection criteria, and quality standards for machining, additive manufacturing, and assembly.
  • Lead APQP deliverables (PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flows) and ensure process readiness.
  • Review and approve FAI/FAIR and CTQ documentation.
  • Drive resolution of nonconformances using structured root cause analysis (8D, DMAIC, 5-Why).
  • Own and manage MRB, NCR/CAPA processes and ensure effective closure.
  • Work with metrology for validation activities including CMM, 3D scanning, and GD&T verification.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction, yield improvement, and process capability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality teams.
