Location: Bordon

Salary: £12.83 - £14.24 per hour (DOE)

Syntech Recruitment are partnering with a leading rubber manufacturer based in Bordon to recruit a detail-oriented and reliable Rubber Injection Moulding Process Operator to join their production team.

In this role, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining rubber injection moulding machinery to manufacture high-quality elastomeric components.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring machines run safely and efficiently, performing basic process adjustments, loading rubber compounds, inspecting finished parts against strict quality standards, and assisting with mold setup and maintenance.

Process Operator Responsibilities

  • Prepare, operate, and monitor rubber injection moulding machines and auxiliary equipment.

  • Load raw rubber materials/compounds into feed mechanisms according to production run orders.

  • Monitor key machine process parameters—including barrel/mold temperatures, injection pressures, cure cycles, and press clamp pressure to ensure consistent operation.

  • Perform basic process adjustments and report recurring technical or dimensional issues to supervisors or process technicians.

  • Carefully remove cured rubber components from molds manually or using automated discharge tools.

  • Trim flash, sprue, and surplus rubber from finished parts using hand tools (knives, shears, or deflashing fixtures).

  • Conduct visual inspections for common rubber defects, such as under-fill (short shots), surface blemishes, air traps, blistering, or tearing.

  • Use measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, or gauges) to perform dimensional checks against engineering drawings and limit samples.

  • Clean mold surfaces between cycles using release agents, air nozzles, or approved solvents as required.

  • Assist setters/technicians with mold changes, insert loading, and basic tool preparation.

  • Perform routine daily maintenance checks on machines (checking hydraulic fluid levels, safety interlocks, and air pressure lines).

  • Strictly adhere to all Health & Safety guidelines, wearing mandatory PPE (safety boots, heat-resistant gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection).

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workstation (5S standards), ensuring no oil leaks, scrap rubber, or debris accumulate around machines.

  • Complete production logs, quality inspection sheets, and scrap count reporting accurately at the end of every shift.

Process Operator Requirements

  • Previous experience operating moulding machinery (rubber injection, compression, or plastic injection moulding) is highly desirable.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of mechanical equipment, hand tools, and machine controls.

  • High attention to detail with the ability to spot fine cosmetic and structural defects in rubber components.

  • Good physical fitness, with the ability to stand for extended periods, lift/move rubber materials or molds safely, and handle hot tooling.

  • Basic math and literacy skills to read work instructions, specification sheets, and complete production paperwork.

  • Strong team player with a safety-first mindset and a reliable work ethic.

Desirable Skills

  • Prior experience specifically with rubber vulcanization and elastomeric materials.

  • Basic familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S workplace organisation practices.

  • Experience using precision measurement tools like calipers and micrometers.

What's On Offer

  • Competitive hourly pay rate of £12.83 - £14.24 per hour (dependent on experience).

  • Early finish every Friday (12:15 PM).

  • Opportunity to work with a specialist manufacturer producing high-precision components.

  • Clean, well-maintained working environment with ongoing team support.
