Job summary

Hrgo-Recruitment in Knowsley is seeking an experienced Extrusion Operator / Team Leader to operate and set up rubber extrusion machinery, helping to meet production targets and maintain high health and safety standards.

You will lead a small production team, assist with work allocation, perform quality inspections using measuring equipment, and support continuous improvement and lean initiatives as the operation grows.

Qualifications

• Experience in team supervision or leadership is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of rubber extrusion processes.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and specs.
• Familiar with measuring equipment like calipers.
• Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up rubber extrusion machinery and maintain quality.
• Prepare raw materials and ensure correct compounds.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust to maintain quality.
• Carry out changeovers efficiently between products.
• Perform quality inspections with measuring equipment.
• Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with engineering to reduce downtime.
• Support and motivate colleagues during the shift.
• Assist with work allocation to hit production schedules.
• Promote housekeeping and health & safety standards.
• Support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives.

Role: Extrusion Operator/Team Leader
Location: Knowsley
Shifts: Monday to Thursday, 6:00am - 4:00pm (moving to permanent nights following induction: Monday to Wednesday, 6:00pm - 6:00am)
Salary: Depending on experience

The Role

As an Extrusion Operator / Team Leader, you'll be responsible for operating and setting up rubber extrusion machinery while helping to ensure production targets, quality standards and health & safety requirements are consistently achieved.

Key responsibilities include:

• Setting up and operating rubber extrusion machinery.


• Preparing raw materials and ensuring the correct compounds are used.


• Monitoring machine performance and making adjustments to maintain product quality.


• Carrying out product changeovers efficiently.


• Completing quality inspections using measuring equipment.


• Troubleshooting production issues and working closely with engineering to minimise downtime.


• Supporting and motivating colleagues throughout the shift.


• Assisting with work allocation to ensure production schedules are met.


• Promoting excellent housekeeping and health & safety standards.


• Supporting continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives.

The candidate:

• Previous Team Leader or Supervisory experience would be advantageous


• A strong understanding of rubber compounds and extrusion processes.


• Experience using measuring equipment such as calipers and profile gauges.


• The ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.


• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


• A proactive approach with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
