Job summary

Arup in Cardiff is seeking a Process Engineer to join the Water team and contribute to projects that enhance water quality and sustainability. You will work across the project lifecycle with civil, mechanical, electrical and environmental colleagues to deliver practical, low-carbon solutions.

The role covers root cause investigations, feasibility studies, optioneering, detailed design and commissioning support for municipal and industrial water projects.

We are looking for candidates with a background in Process engineering design on multi-disciplinary projects within the municipal and industrial water sectors. With our depth and breadth of skills, our team is currently involved in many exciting projects across the Energy, Water and Resources sectors.

As a Process Engineer, you'll contribute to projects that improve water quality, protect the environment, and support communities for generations to come. From tackling complex water and wastewater treatment challenges to developing innovative, low-carbon solutions, your work will have a real and lasting impact.

You'll become part of a growing and collaborative process engineering team, working on a broad range of projects that span the entire project lifecycle. From root cause investigations, feasibility studies and optioneering through to detailed design and commissioning support, you'll have the opportunity to influence key decisions and see your ideas become reality. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams of civil, mechanical, electrical and environmental specialists, you'll help deliver practical and sustainable solutions for our clients and communities.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in water and/or wastewater process engineering.
• Understanding of water treatment processes and the UK water sector.
• Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Working towards chartership.
• Experience developing process design documents, including mass balances and P&IDs.
• Familiarity with HazOP studies and regulated environments.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Good communication skills and experience working with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• A collaborative approach.
