Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Process Engineer for a dynamic manufacturer of specialty chemicals in Randburg, Gauteng. You will optimize and maintain process performance, ensure safety and quality, and support scale-up from lab to production.

You will collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams on process improvements, PFDs/P&IDs, and control strategies to drive efficiency and compliance.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
• 4+ years of process engineering experience in chemical manufacturing.

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic manufacturer of specialty chemicals, is seeking a proficient Process Engineer to join their team in Randburg, Gauteng. This role is crucial for optimizing and maintaining the efficiency, safety, and quality of their diverse chemical production processes. You will be involved in troubleshooting operational issues, implementing process improvements, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of chemical engineering principles applied to manufacturing environments and a keen eye for detail. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze process performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring product quality.
• Implement process changes and improvements to enhance efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental (SHE) regulations.
• Participate in process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement recommendations.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality control teams to achieve production goals.
• Assist in the scale-up of new processes and products from lab/pilot to commercial scale.
• Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and operating procedures.
• Support the implementation of process control strategies and automation initiatives.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical manufacturing industry, preferably specialty chemicals.
• Solid understanding of unit operations, chemical reaction engineering, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with process simulation software is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting manufacturing processes.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Familiarity with safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.
• Proximity to Randburg, Gauteng, or willingness to commute/relocate.
• Knowledge of process control systems is a plus.
