Job summary

Aspion Search is seeking a Process Engineer to review, develop and improve manufacturing processes across CNC machining, welding, electropolishing and inspection. You will collaborate with Production Managers, Team Leaders, Planning, Quality and Engineering to boost productivity and quality while delivering projects from concept to implementation.

The role requires an analytical, improvement-focused engineer with experience across manufacturing departments and a track record of managing projects

The role of the Process Engineer

The Process Engineer will be responsible for reviewing, developing and improving manufacturing processes across CNC machining, welding, electropolishing and inspection.

The Process Engineer will work closely with Production Managers, Team Leaders, Planning, Quality and Engineering, to identify ways to improve productivity, quality, efficiency and production output.

This position will suit an analytical and improvement focused engineer who enjoys working across different manufacturing departments and managing projects from initial concept through to successful implementation.

Responsibilities of the Process Engineer
  • Review manufacturing methods and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and output
  • Work across the machine shop, welding, electropolishing and inspection departments to introduce more effective ways of working
  • Analyse production workflows to identify bottlenecks, delays, waste and recurring operational issues
  • Create and standardise manufacturing processes, work instructions, process flow maps and operating procedures
  • Manage continuous improvement projects from concept through to implementation
  • Support the introduction of new products, machinery, equipment, technology and automation
  • Use Lean Manufacturing principles to improve operational performance
  • Improve CNC machining processes by reviewing cycle times, tooling, downtime, machine utilisation and throughput
  • Work with welding teams to improve productivity and reduce defects and rework
  • Develop electropolishing processes to improve cycle times, production flow, process control and quality
  • Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Work with Planning and Operations to increase manufacturing capacity and improve resource utilisation
  • Collect and analyse production and quality data to monitor performance and identify trends
  • Produce KPIs, dashboards, reports and improvement recommendations
  • Present findings and recommendations to the management team
  • Ensure all process improvements meet health, safety, environmental and quality standards
  • Support risk assessments, safe systems of work and accident or near-miss investigations
Requirements of the Process Engineer
  • HNC, HND or degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Product Development or a related discipline
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Experience supporting CNC machining, fabrication or welding operations
  • Experience analysing and improving manufacturing processes
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience conducting root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions
  • Experience working within a quality management system
  • Ability to manage improvement projects from concept through to implementation
  • Confidence working collaboratively across multiple departments
  • Communication and data analysis skills
Desirable qualifications of the Process Engineer
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement qualification
