Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a hands-on Process Development Technician to join our fast-moving consumer goods team in Birmingham. You will lead experiments and trials across pilot plants, factories, and supplier sites to design and deploy new processes.

You will analyse results, generate technical reports, maintain process specifications, and support continuous improvement through 5S, GMP, and Food Safety programs while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in process development within a fast-moving consumer goods environment.
• Strong understanding of GMP and food safety standards.
• Ability to analyse results and translate into actionable recommendations.
• Experience with lab/plant equipment operation and maintenance is a plus.
• Hands-on, proactive approach in a busy pilot plant setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of experiments and trials across innovation, growth and productivity projects.
• Implement process trials in pilot plants, factories and with suppliers.
• Provide operational expertise in specific process unit operations.
• Help plan effective use of resources, including external agencies.
• Create technical reports by analyzing results and drawing conclusions and making recommendations.
• Create and maintain accurate process specifications.
• Support trial activities, weighing, material additions and other manual activities.
• Operate low-complexity equipment and perform hand moulding activities.
• Dispose of non-conforming materials and ensure accurate labelling.
• Support environmental monitoring and compliance programs.
• Complete assigned actions supporting improvement programs, 5S and continuous improvement.
