Job description

About the opportunity:

We are looking for a Process Development Scientist to join a growing business within the diagnostics sector. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys developing and improving processes and wants to play a key role in bringing products from the development stage into manufacturing. You will focus on developing robust and scalable manufacturing processes to ensure products can successfully transition into production. This role sits at an earlier stage than a Technology Transfer position, with a stronger focus on process development and scale-up. You will plan and carry out experimental work, investigate challenges and develop practical solutions to support successful manufacturing. Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality and other internal teams, you will help ensure processes are effective, reliable and suitable for larger-scale production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimise manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
  • Support the scale-up of products from development into manufacturing.
  • Plan and carry out experimental work to improve processes.
  • Identify process challenges and develop practical solutions.
  • Support the transfer of developed processes into routine manufacturing.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality and Operations teams.
  • Analyse experimental data and prepare technical documentation.
  • Support process validation and continuous improvement activities
Who we are looking for:
  • A degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Experience in process development, product development or manufacturing science.
  • Experience within diagnostics, ideally involving lateral flow or ELISA technologies.
  • An understanding of scaling products and processes into manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A hands-on approach and genuine interest in developing and improving processes.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
Why you will love working here:
  • Be part of a growing organisation developing innovative, life-enhancing products.
  • Contribute to product development, manufacturing, validation and process improvement in a regulated environment.
  • Work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team where your expertise can make a real impact.
  • Benefit from ongoing professional development
  • Company pension
  • Competitive salary of up to £37,000
