Job summary

Pharmaron Hoddesdon is seeking an entry-level or experienced Scientist, Process Chemistry to join our expanding team in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. You will design and execute organic synthesis experiments, contribute to process development and scale-up projects for clinical trials and marketed products.

We value practical laboratory experience, a MSc or higher in Chemistry, and a strong interest in pharmaceutical process chemistry.

Qualifications

• MSc or higher in Chemistry with at least 2:1 undergraduate degree.
• Industrial placement or final-year project in organic or synthetic chemistry.
• Practical experience with modern organic synthesis techniques.
• Experience working in a laboratory environment (academic or industrial).
• Interest in a career in process chemistry and pharmaceutical development.
• Postgraduate industry experience beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct lab-based synthetic organic chemistry experiments.
• Design and run experiments to improve safety, quality, robustness and scalability.
• Analyse and interpret reaction data to inform process development.
• Maintain detailed lab notebooks and records.
• Support the scale-up from laboratory development to pilot plant manufacture.
• Collaborate with analytical chemistry, GMP manufacturing, engineering and project management.
• Contribute to project progress updates and technical discussions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and GMP standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and sustainability.
• Assist in timely delivery of client projects.
