Process Chemist - Power Station

£50,000 + Benefits

This is a static, day-based Process Chemist / Site Chemist position at a modern Power facility in Kent, focusing on water treatment, effluent monitoring, and fuel chemistry across the plant.

The role holder will be responsible for sampling, analyzing, and interpreting chemical data to ensure plant performance and environmental compliance. You'll play a vital role in supporting safe and efficient power by managing the chemistry of water/steam circuits, emissions, and fuel characteristics, while working closely with operations and maintenance teams.

Role & Responsibilities

1. Carry out routine and non-routine chemical analysis on boiler water, cooling water, effluent, and fuel samples.
2. Monitor and maintain correct chemical dosing regimes to support efficient plant operation and corrosion control.
3. Diagnose process chemistry issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
4. Maintain detailed and accurate records of test results, trends, and incidents.
5. Ensure all sampling equipment and laboratory instruments are calibrated and maintained to standard.
6. Support environmental reporting, emissions compliance, and regulatory audits.
7. Contribute to continuous improvement of chemical processes and procedures.
8. Assist in procurement and inventory control of chemicals and laboratory supplies.
9. Work collaboratively with operations and engineering teams to optimize plant chemistry and performance.
