Position Summary:

We are looking for a Process Chemist to join our PIB & Dispersant team within Manufacturing Technology (MFT). The role involves a range of activities including lab synthesis, sample analysis, coordinating requests for blending and external analysis, lab safety improvements, product quality investigations, report writing and analytical evaluation of process changes at manufacturing plants.

Primarily through laboratory work, you will support delivery of improvements in areas such as cost optimisation, supply security, manufacturing capacity and new product development. You will also have opportunities to collaborate globally across the other MFT teams and with Technology, Procurement and Manufacturing. The successful candidate will work both autonomously and collaboratively within cross-functional teams. The role may involve occasional travel.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintaining a high standard of laboratory safety and housekeeping
  • Planning and execution of experimental programmes and associated analytical testing
  • Efficient and safe operation, ownership and modification of lab equipment for synthesis and analysis
  • Evaluations of new raw materials and component suppliers
  • Analysis and insight in support of lab or plant troubleshooting, process optimisation, New Product Development projects and fundamental understanding activities
  • Interpretation of experimental results/data and sharing technical information through reports, presentations and discussions

  • Knowledge of our commercial products, plant network, manufacturing processes and associated analytical techniques
  • Insight into how products and processes are transferred from lab to commercial scale (NPD)
  • Familiarity with Infineum’s key commercial product quality controls (IQPs) and lab safety processes (OIMS)
  • Global exposure to numerous functions across Infineum, and externally to third party plants and raw material suppliers

A successful candidate is likely to have:

  • A high regard for both safety and quality
  • Strong practical laboratory experience in a chemistry/analytical environment
  • Diligence to accurately manage test results, technical information, and lab records, combined with the capability to interpret data and make recommendations
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
