Job summary

Ministry of Justice in the South West invites applications for a Probation Service Officer at Weston Approved Premises. You will manage a caseload before and after sentence, conduct assessments, implement sentences and write reports for courts.

The role requires strong report writing under tight deadlines and will involve weekend work. Right to work in the UK is essential; sponsorship is limited to those who held a Skilled Worker visa before 22 July 2025.

• Nice to have experience working with people who have social or personal difficulties.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of people on probation before and after sentence.
• Carry out assessments and implement sentences.
• Lead offender management and key interventions with residents.
• Write reports, including information for courts
• Assess and manage risk to the public
• Provide case management support under service procedures and practice directions
• Work closely with agencies across the justice system
• Support people with practical needs such as housing and employment
• Work weekends as required
