Job summary

The Ministry of Justice is seeking a Permanent Probation Services Officer within the Community Payback strand of the Probation Service. You will manage a caseload of individuals before and after sentence, carry out assessments and implement sentences, and prepare clear reports for court use.

You will work across courts, prisons and delivery units, supporting people with housing and employment needs. On-the-job training or an apprenticeship may be available, with hybrid working where business

Qualifications

• Evidence of relevant experience, given in the application form.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of people on probation before and after sentence.
• Carry out assessments and sentence implementation.
• Provide offender management and case management support using service procedures and practice directions.
• Assess and manage risk.
• Produce clear and accurate reports, including information for courts.
• Work with agencies across the justice system.
• Support people on probation with practical needs such as housing and employment advice.
• Work in settings such as probation delivery units, courts, prisons and approved premises, as business need requires.
• Complete on-the-job training, which may include an apprenticeship.
